VMEX Reduces Unnecessary Truck Journeys on UK Roads
Release date: 18 July 2005
VMEX - the industry website dedicated to filling empty slots on car transporters, has managed to remove the equivalent of over 100 truck journeys per week since launching at the beginning of June.
VMEX is a real-time, on-line exchange that allows automotive customers to link up with transport companies or individual operators with spare capacity on their trucks, to arrange the movement of new and used vehicles.
The company has released details of its first month's performance since the launch which show that more than 40 independent automotive transporter companies are using the service every week and that the company is helping place an average of 1,500 cars per week - before the creation of VMEX, these vehicles would have needed to be transported by a fresh truck rather than joining an empty space on an existing transporter.
What's also encouraging is the growing number of requests from OEMs and dealers, which shows that there's a real understanding of the savings that everyone in the supply chain can make, explained Tim Phillips, VMEX's General Manager. The upshot of this increase in transport efficiency of course, is that the environment benefits from a reduction in overall journeys as more effective use is made of the trucks that are on the roads.
VMEX provides a single point of contact for any car transportation need whether a single, covered, partial or full carload service. Registration is free, quick and easy and can be done online via www.vmex.com or by a simple phone call to (0)1275 370455. |
